Collection of essays and legal documents
A collection of a number of essays with different writers and scribes. Some parts are devoted to the explanation of different types of marriage and divorce. In between the lines, there are a number of contracts and settlements, including lease, and sale settlements, but most of them are marriage contracts and divorce settlements. Dates of these contracts are mostly in 1840s. The first date is 13 January 1845 and the last date is 31 May 1893.

Copy of a marriage contract between Kulsum, daughter of Akhund Mulla Husayn, and Akhund Mulla Qasim, son of Karbalayi ʻAli Muhammad, with a mahr of 800 Nasiri rials, which includes: half a share of the twelve shares of Karizak farm, worth 40 tumans, part of a property in Nayshabur, worth 10 tumans, 16 tumans in cash for clothes, gold worth 8 tumans, six mans [each man is three kilograms] of copper worth six tumans.

Marriage Contract, settlements, and divorce agreement between Khadijah Khanum and Mirza Ghulamhusayn, 1876
Marriage contract between Khadijah Khanum, daughter of Ustad Muhammad ‘Ali Mi‘mar, and Mirza Aqa Ghulamhusayn, son of Aqa Nazar. The mahr was forty tumans, from which ten tumans was handed to the bride by the groom (1876). On verso, there are three related settlements dating 1890 and 1899 about their divorce and issues of mahr, alimony, etc.

Marriage and divorce contracts of Kuchak Jan Khanum and Murad, 1867 and 1879
Marriage and divorce contracts of Kuchak Jan Khanum, daughter of Ustad Qasim, and Murad, son of Kazim. The mahr was one tuman and five thousand dinars to buy one misqal [unit of weight] of gold, copperware, new clothes, bedding, kilim and felt, and some properties. On December 11, 1879, Kuchak Jan Khanum settled all of her mahr with her husband for one hundred dinars and one charik [unit of weight] of wheat in order to get a divorce. It was agreed that if the husband wanted to return, he had to add an extra ten tumans to the mahr.

Marriage contract between Fatimah Khanum with Aqa Muhammad Sadiq, 1871
Marriage contract between Fatimah Khanum, the daughter of Sayyid Ahmad, and Aqa Muhammad Sadiq, the son of Mirza Husayn, on July 16, 1871. The mahr includes 18 tumans cash, room's carpets worth 6 tumans, a qalamkar bed covering made in Isfahan worth four tumans, part of a building in Shaykh Zayn al-Din neighborhood, and a piece of land. A note on the verso reads as follows: "The bride received the mahr and nothing more is owed to her except half of her share of her husband's inheritance, which will be given to her when her late husband's debts are paid. Marriage contract between Gawhar Khanum and Mirza Asad Allah, 1879
Marriage contract of Gawhar Khanum (daughter of ʻAliriza Mustawfi) with Mirza Asad Allah (son of Haji Mirza Muhammad Husayn Mustawfi) in May or June 1879. Mahr includes 100 tumans, a Qurʼan, gold (ten tumans), copper containers made in Kashan, a carpet, a qalamkar bed covering, a female Ethiopian slave (40 tumans), one third of an herb shop, part of a farm land near Savah and its water right, one sixth of a house in andaruni, and one sixth of a farm house originally belonged to the groom's father, who transfers it to Mirza Asad Allah to be included in his wife's Mahr.

Marriage contract between Gawhar Khanum, the daughter of Aqa Muhammad Husayn, and Mirza Mahmud, the son of Muhammad Sadiq, dated December 1st, 1887. The mahr is a Qurʼan worth two tumans, a qalamkar bed covering made in Isfahan worth 5 tumans, a carpet, a kilim worth 10 tumans, and three sixths of the properties inherited by the bridegroom. A note on the verso reads: "the record of Nanah Gawhar (the mother of our mother, Sakinah Khatun)'s mahr."

The mahr includes 30 tumans, a qalamkar bed covering from Isfahan worth 4 tumans, room carpets including a rug and corner felt rugs worth 8 tumans, parts of lands and gardens, some properties in Vadasht, and one and a third walnut trees. Marriage contract between Maryam Khanum (Junjun Khanum) and Muhammad Ismaʻil, 1865
A marriage contract between Maryam Khanum (Junjun Khanum), the daughter of Haj Muhammad Shafiʻ, and Muhammad Ismaʻil, the son of Haj Muhammad Baqir on 8 May 1865. The mahr is 70 tumans (equal to 40 misqal gold), carpets and rugs for a room, part of a mansion, a garden, a qalamkar bed covering of 7 tuman. On the verso, there are two notes. The first one dates a settlement between the wife and husband on 8 May 1877 and states that since the husband has sold three of the properties in the mahr, he transfers the ownership of three other properties to his wife.
